Supima Cotton Certificate
Supima allows textile
mills, manufacturers, and retailers around the world whose products are made of
100% Supima Cotton to become licensed and gain full access to the Supima brand
for marketing and promotional purposes. This select group of licensed high
quality, textile mills, apparel and textile manufacturers, and retailers
benefit from the backing of government agencies and cotton industry
organizations to ensure a viable marketing environment for American Pima cotton
growers.
Most Supima cotton
producers to their best to use non-toxic, sustainable, and organic processes to
grow their crops. When you're creating a luxury product with a name to protect,
it makes sense to exert the effort necessary to do things the right way, which
is another reason why consumers prefer Supima cotton to Pima cotton or other
upscale forms of this textile.
This type of cotton is generally used to make high-end consumer garments and household textiles such as sheets. Even though it is highly tensile, costs prohibit the use of Supima in commercial settings.
Supima’s licensing program targets all participants in the apparel and
home fashion supply chains; from spinners, weavers, knitters, and
manufacturers, to consumer brands and retailers. By licensing the entire supply
chain, Supima provides added assurance to downstream customers that SUPIMA
trademarked goods are made with 100% U.S. Pima cotton. At the same time, to
maintain the premium focus of the trademark, the Supima license is
non-transferable, meaning a company cannot pass down the rights to use the
SUPIMA trademark to their customers. This allows Supima visibility throughout
the supply chain of the use of its trademark, as well as to control the quality
and integrity of products that bear the SUPIMA name.
Once approved by Supima, customers buying qualifying product from Supima licensees can become licensees with the right to use the trademark to promote their own SUPIMA products. Supima’s advertising campaign and growing consumer awareness give brands and retailers an advantage in promoting their SUPIMA trademarked apparel and home fashion products to consumers.
